As seasons change, brands redefine!

Oh the long days and short, fun filled nights. The sweet kisses from the wind or raindrops or strangers in the moonlight. Either way summer has a unique meaning for all of us. Love is one of them and as we bid farewell to both seasons; we have all kinds of secrets and they remain just that. However I know what you did last summer!

Two days to go and we are officially into Autumn, fortunately or unfortunately we pile up the layers and some of us ladies look ravishing in our high boots, skinny denims and not forgetting that toned ‘itty bitty’. This is the ideal image!

The end of summer also means a time to reach our full potential. Good weather keeps you active outdoors; this can easily make you happier and more positively driven to achieve. It can also suppress your appetite allowing you to make smart food choices that can enhances your brain power whoever you are. Okay let us pull out some research on this one.

Legalise The Cousin At Least

Hemp in South Africa is a topic as avoided as the Arms Deal. Okay so there has been research on the biodegradable ‘African Cannabis’ but where is the development? If you had no idea, Hemp is one of the fastest growing biomasses and can be converted into paper, textiles, plastics, construction, health food, fuel, and medical purposes. So if Hemp is so versatile, eco-friendly and profitable – why are my African people still oppressed?

Hemp is currently not grown in South Africa. It is regulated and can only be grown under license. All licenses to date have been issued for research purposes only. This means that all the Hemp products in SA are currently imported. If Hemp can grow almost anywhere, requires little fertilizer, resists pests and crowds out weeds, why again can we not cultivate it?

There is a great misconception that the force behind legalising Hemp is subliminally trying to legalise Marijuana. Yes the earlier advocates of Industrial Hemp (Cannabis Sativa) may have been interested, that’s history. The SA government needs to pull their heads out of their thighs. Hemp was not ‘profitable’ but now it’s a multi-million rand business.

With such a fantastic resume, there are only two reasons I have for Hemp being illegal in South Africa. The first is that ‘a luta continua’ and the second is that they know once Africans jump on this band wagon with all their skill – they will saturate the industry and make serious money. Is U2 bringing Jay Z to South Africa?

Since 30 June 2009 the U2 360’ tour has been stunning audiences worldwide. Igniting stages in Europe, North America, Oceania, South America and now coming to South Africa; U2 is set to perform 110 times until 30 July 2011.

The tickets are sold out! This means you are left with two options; win the tickets or buy them at inflated prices online. The point here is that you have to be there to experience this record breaking concert.

U2 has been trotting the globe with the world’s largest concert stage structure, the Claw. You do not have to love architecture to know that this is fine work. The Claw is under assembly at the FNB Stadium. It looks like something from the movie the Fifth Element. All the visual stimulation it provides will have you believing that you are watching a flick.

The 50-metre high four-legged steel structure holds a cylindrical 500 000 Mega Pixel video system over a massive stage with rotating bridges. The stage set features a 360-degree configuration (hence the tour name) this unique design affords fans the opportunity to surround the entire stage as it has no definite front and back, cool huh? This is the tomorrow of live entertainment!

So U2 is coming to town and after 33 years in the business, they still know how to keep it fresh. This is a great substitute for the drop in CD sales. While U2 is smiling all the way to bank, you too can be the first to experience live concerts in 3D. No wonder 50 cent has his claws in 3D technology; this is big bucks.
